Who is the greatest fighter of all time?

Nobody, according to former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. That might sound like a strange admission from a combatant who many fans consider to be the best ever, but “Rush” believes excellence has an expiration date.

“When I was young, I wanted to be the best of all time,” St-Pierre, 38, told Ariel Helwani. “But when I got older and had more experience, I realized it’s just a fugazi – it doesn’t exist. You can’t be the best guy on the planet. There’s always one guy that will beat you. There’s guys better than you who maybe are not fighting. That’s how the world works. There will always be one guy that will have your number, and he will beat you. There’s no (best) guy.”

St-Pierre (26-2), who wore gold at both welterweight and middleweight, was shocked by the stocky and cocky Matt Serra in the UFC 69 main event back in early 2007, one of just two losses across the French-Canadian’s storied combat sports career.

If in fact there is a GOAT … St-Pierre is definitely in the running.
