Despite recently teasing a ‘private location’ to host events in the near future, the MMA promotion has had to postpone more upcoming fight cards due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On April 7th Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan tweeted out that he had a “private location sorted” to hold multiple CW fight cards. However, with their latest press release, that no longer appears to be the case. Or at least, not any time in the near future.

Subject to public health guidelines, Cage Warriors’ Cardiff event, which was originally scheduled to take place on June 13, has been postponed and is now expected to happen on August 8th. In addition, the European promotion was due to return to London on June 20 but that event will now be staged on November 27. This information was revealed in a press release sent out by Cage Warriors on Wednesday evening.

It is worth noting that the London date in November was already booked, meaning the June show in the nation’s capital is essentially cancelled.

Cage Warriors are hoping to return to Manchester in December for the second time in the promotion’s history, and are looking to make for a busy event calendar as the year closes out. That Manchester event wasn’t in the organisation’s original 2020 plans, and has likely been added to make up for some of the shows which have fallen off in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Cage Warriors president, Graham Boylan, issued the following statement about the changes in their upcoming plans

“We’re constantly monitoring the situation in Europe, and listening to government advice.”

“We will continue to adapt our schedule whenever we have to, but our plan is still to return at the first given opportunity with some of the biggest and best cards we can possibly put together.”

“Fans and fighters will rightly deserve as much MMA as possible after our time off, which is why we’ve locked a new date in Manchester on the weekend of 11-12th December into our forward calendar. It’s a volatile situation but we might do something unique there to close out 2020: watch this space.”

“I want to thank our business partners in all our venues – AEG, BEC and the Viola Arena – for their flexibility and support. It’s by all working together that we can and will get through this.”

Currently, it appears, the promotion still hope to return to action on July 25 for a fight card in Cork, Ireland—which will most likely feature many of the company’s rising Irish talents. As with all things right now, however, whether or not that event will actually go ahead remains to be seen.
