Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt will stay at 135-pounds for his next fight.

A bantamweight fight between former champion Cody Garbrandt and Raphael Assuncao has been rebooked for a UFC event on June 6th.

MMA Fighting reported the matchup, but the UFC is yet to officially confirm the fight. Garbrandt revealed earlier this month his plans to drop down to flyweight to make his debut at 125-pounds, but it now seems his next fight will be at his usual weight class.

The fight between Garbrandt and Assuncao was originally booked for UFC Columbus in March, but Gabrandt pulled out the bout with kidney issues. The event was then cancelled entirely among with many others due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Garbrandt (11-3) hasn’t fought since UFC 235 in March 2019. “No Love” has lost his last three fights in the octagon all by knockout, once to Pedro Munhoz and twice to T.J. Dillashaw. The former champion is without a win since beating Dominick Cruz for the title in 2016.

Assuncao (27-7) is arguably one of the best fighters at 135-pounds to never challenge for the title. The Brazilian has lost his last two fights though, a decision to Cory Sandhagen and a stoppage loss to Marlon Moraes. Assuncao was on a four-fight winning streak before his last two losses.

No city, venue or other fights have been announced for the planned UFC card on June 6th.
