Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father, Abdulmanap, has been hospitalized with suspected pneumonia.

The incident was first reported by Dagestani sports commentator Ramazan Rabadanov, who posted a picture of himself with Abdulmanap before stating that the renowned coach had fallen ill.

“Abdulmanap is in Makhachkala, in the Second City Hospital. He got sick in the mountains,” Rabadanov explained (h/t RT). ”He walked for two days, the brothers barely persuaded to go to the hospital. While coronavirus is not confirmed. They say the flu. No one is allowed to visit him. The world champion Shamil Zavurov also fell ill. They say there are other sick athletes.”

The news was later reported by Russian news outlets, who confirmed that the UFC champion’s father was hospitalized. The outlets also confirmed that a coronavirus test was administered on Abdulmanap, though the results have not yet been revealed.

Abdulmanap, who underwent heart surgery in 2019 at age 56, reportedly informed the media that he is recovering, “I feel great. Everything is fine with me.”
