Hulking Hollywood action hero and former professional wrestling headliner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is back with another season of “Titan Games” and this time he’s enlisting “UFC champion” Tyron Woodley.
While it’s true that Woodley lost his 170-pound title to Kamaru Usman in the UFC 245 main event last December, “The Chosen One” is still the champion (his words) and the greatest 170-pound MMA fighter of all time (also his words). But can we talk about that bizarre play-by-play voiceover?
Ohhhh … Woodley takes him down for another win! Victory!
“This unparalleled new athletic competition gives everyday men and women across the country the opportunity to step inside the Titan arena and achieve the impossible,” the website reads. “Competitors will push their bodies to the limit by battling opponents in innovative and unforgiving head-to-head challenges, designed by Johnson. Winners will advance to the ultimate challenge of Mt. Olympus, the consummate athletic test of speed, strength, agility and endurance. In each episode the male and female competitors who conquer Mt. Olympus will become a Titan.”
Woodley was trying to find his way onto a UFC fight card later this month in Jacksonville, Florida, presumably against Gilbert Burns, so he won’t have much time to recover for his “Titan Games” appearance, assuming he emerges from his “Durinho” contest without injury.
Season 2 of “Titan Games” premieres May 25 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
