Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently rebooked the Amanda Nunes vs. Felicia Spencer featherweight title fight for June 6, according to ESPN, though it’s unknown what city and venue will play host to the pay-per-view (PPV) fight card.
Nunes was originally expected to defend her 145-pound strap in the UFC 250 co-main event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, but that card was canceled after the coronavirus pandemic turned the world of sports on its head.
There was also talk of shifting the featherweight contest to UFC 249 this weekend in Jacksonville, Florida — which remains an option for the June 6 lineup — but “Lioness” balked at the short-notice change after working through a minor injury.
It should be noted that June 6 was the original date for the since-canceled UFC 251 event in Perth, Australia, and the fighters loosely attached to that card, including featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, are currently awaiting reassignment.
