Henry Cejudo tells the top bantamweight contenders to wait their turn.
Henry Cejudo has no intention of facing Aljamain Sterling or Petr Yan after UFC 249, as ‘Triple C’ plans to beat Jose Aldo before moving up in weight to capture the featherweight title and become the first three-division champion in UFC history.
‘The Messenger’ sent a special message to Jose Aldo, who he was originally supposed to face this weekend, and current featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski during Tuesday’s UFC 249 conference call (h/t MMA Fighting).
“I told Uncle Dana [White] after I beat up ‘Dominique’ I’m going to be stomping on Jose Baldo’s toes next,” Cejudo said. “After that, Alexander Volkanovski, that overgrown midget, he’s next.”
As for the rest of the bantamweight contenders, they can wait their turn, Cejudo said.
“I’m going tell them to wait for their chance. Wait for their king to tell them to bend the knee. Aljamain Sterling got knocked out by the guy that I knocked out. Wait in line.
“Then Petr Yan, he needs to learn better English. He absolutely sucks. You can’t beat a 41-year-old [in Urijah Faber] and expect to get a title shot. That’s just ridiculous. I’d rather fight someone who hasn’t fought in four years as in Dominick.”
UFC 249, which features Cejudo vs. Cruz as the co-main event, takes place this Saturday, May 9 at the VyState Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
