It’s finally fight day for UFC 249, which kicks off from VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. With the UFC’s current lightweight champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov, off the card the featured matchup of the evening will entail a vacant interim lightweight title fight between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje. The co-main for the card will get a bantamweight championship bout between the current king, Henry Cejudo, and the challenger, Dominick Cruz. In the UFC 249 main event, the oddsmakers like them some Tony Ferguson, who by the way is on an epic 12-fight winning streak. His favored moneyline is currently available around the -195 mark. As for the heavy handed Justin Gaethje, his underdog betting line can be scooped up for about +180.
The over/under for this 25-minute title tilt has been set at 2.5 rounds. The ‘Under’ owns a favored line of -160 with a +145 comeback on the the ‘Over.’ Both of these top-tier lightweights have claimed quite a few scalps during their careers, so it’s no surprise to see the bookies hypothesizing that this one’s ending early. The betting public seems to be on board with that sentiment and the prop bet ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ comes in with a sizable cost of -750. Going back the other way, the ‘Fight goes to decision’ option can be scooped up for a value of +480.
The bet-setters have pegged Ferguson as the fighter most likely to produce a finish. The wager ‘Ferguson wins inside distance’ comes with a favored moneyline of -144, with ‘Any other result’ at +114. As for his counterpart, ‘Gaethje wins inside distance’ is sitting with a dog tag of +206, with ‘Any other result’ favored at -266.
In the UFC 249 co-main event, bantamweight champ and king of cringe, Henry Cejudo, will be defending his crown against a former champ in Dominick Cruz. The much-much more active Cejudo is fancied by the oddsmakers. His favored moneyline is on the table at a cost of -220. As for the often injured Cruz, his straight up line currently holds a value of +200.
The over/under for this 135-pound championship affair has been set at 4.5 rounds. The favored ‘Over’ option is on deck at -197, with a +174 comeback on the ‘‘Under.’ Obvious from the associated over/under, the bookies are expecting Cejudo vs. Cruz to reach the scorecards. Gamblers can lay the price on the prop bet ‘Fight goes to decision’ for -165, or take the price on ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ for +135.
