UFC 249 results live online: Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) TONIGHT (Sat., May 9, 2020) after a two-month layoff caused by the global lockdown. In the main event, the best Lightweight to never compete for a unified title, Tony Ferguson, locked horns with No. 4-ranked division contender, Justin Gaethje, for the interim 155-pound belt. It was a bloody, back-and-forth war of attrition early, with Gaethje putting it on Ferguson late en route to a ridiculously impressive technical knockout win (watch highlights) and a shot (gulp) at Khabib Nurmagomedov later this year. In UFC 249’s co-headliner, which emanated from inside a crowd-free VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., Bantamweight champion, Henry Cejudo, added to his impressive resume with a technical knockout win over 135-pound legend, Dominick Cruz; however, it was not without controversy. Immediately afterward, Cejudo announced that he would “retire” from the sport, just when he’s seemingly reached superstar status.
