Following Conor McGregor’s skewering of seemingly every relevant fighter in the lightweight division, Dustin Poirier didn’t take long to respond.

Earlier today, Conor McGregor lost his marbles on Twitter. The former two-division champion was initially positive about what was going down at UFC 249. After a couple of days though, McGregor took to social media to book the lightweight division to his liking – naturally, with him at the forefront.

He went after current champ Khabib Nurmagomedov, as usual. He was complimentary of Tony Ferguson to a degree, but they ended up being backhanded compliments. He told Justin Gaethje what was going to happen if they fought. And finally, he took some shots at a man he defeated a few years ago – Dustin Poirier.

Of all of the guys he went after, Poirier is the most active on social media, so it should come as no surprise that he responded to Conor within a couple of hours. And he got straight to the point about Conor’s UFC lightweight career, pointing out how many wins he has in that division. That number would be one.

That point is true. It may surprise some, but McGregor only has two fights at 155 in his UFC career – a win over Eddie Alvarez, and a loss to Khabib. He’s actually fought more at 170 pounds than 155, going 2-1 at welterweight.

I’m sure we’ll hear responses from the other named fighters soon enough, but Poirier set the bar pretty high with his barb.
