Karl Roberson | Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports
Roberson missed weight by 1.5lbs on Tuesday for the middleweight bout against Marvin Vettori in Florida.
UFC Jacksonville has been hit by a last-minute change to the card.
Karl Roberson will no longer face Marvin Vettori on Wednesday night after the American was pulled from the bout because of medical issues unrelated to COVID-19. The news was announced by the UFC in a statement released on Wednesday afternoon which can be seen below.
Due to medical issues unrelated to COVID-19 after his weight cut, Karl Roberson has been pulled from his Wednesday bout with Marvin Vettori at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville.
The UFC Fight Night card, headlined by the bout between Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira, will proceed as scheduled with 10 bouts.
A report from MMA Junkie stated that Roberson (9-2) was taken to a local hospital on Tuesday night due to weight-related issues. He was deemed unfit to compete so the fight against Vettori (14-4-1) was cancelled. Furthermore, according to the report, rebooking the contest at a heavier weight on Saturday’s upcoming card was discussed but never materialised.
This is the third time that both men have had fights fall out over the past two months, most of which were caused by the cancellation of shows due to the coronavirus outbreak.
