Lightweight fighter Gabriel Benitez was looking to get back to the win column against Omar Morales at UFC Jacksonville on Wednesday night. Not only was he unsuccessful, he also sustained an injury that has so far made the rounds online.
Looking at it from afar in between the latter rounds, it looked like a normal cut on Benitez’s left shin. His leg tattoo also concealed the severity of the injury, which the UFC broadcast team decided to highlight after the fight.
Play-by-play commentator Jon Anik did give out the warning before they showed the clip, but it was an unexpected visual, nonetheless.

“In case you don’t know how the body works, that there is a shin bone behind that skin that is peeled apart,” color commentator Paul Felder quipped. “And he fought through that the entire time.”
“Moggly” also saw it fit to post the photo on social media.
Benitez is now on a two-fight losing streak as he holds a record of 21-8 (with 17 wins by stoppage).
