Bulging discs, not his rib injury, ultimately were the reason UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar was forced out of a UFC 130 title fight with Gray Maynard on Monday.

But as UFC officials recently announced, the fight instead was scrapped when Maynard also fell victim to injuries, and their headlining spot has been replaced by Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Matt Hamill.
