Spotify will become the exclusive home of The Joe Rogan Experience starting Sept. 1
Joe Rogan and his fleet of podcast fans will flock to Spotify this fall.
Rogan has signed an exclusive deal with Spotify to stream his ultra-popular The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. The podcast ranks among the top programs on the Apple charts. The podcast will begin streaming on Spotify as of Sept. 1 while remaining on other platforms. By the end of 2020 it will become exclusive to the streaming service. No premium subscription is required to listen to The Joe Rogan Experience on Spotify, but do not be surprised if the free version includes ad breaks.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the deal would be worth “more than $100 million,” in what would be one of the most lucrative deals ever for a podcast.
Rogan will maintain sole creative control of the podcast and will remain independent. Spotify will operate as the sole distributor.
“It will be the exact same show,” Rogan said on his Tuesday morning show. “The only difference will be it will now be available on the largest audio platform in the world.”
Spotify is currently home to major podcasts such as The Joe Budden Podcast and WTF with Marc Maron.
