Reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is about to drop trou, but before “Boo Boo Wild Thang” gets her hopes up, I should probably mention it’s for the Goodwill store in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and not for this weekend’s inevitable bender.

Turns out “Bones” will be packing on some pounds for his oft-teased jump to the heavyweight division, where opponents far less dangerous than Dominick Reyes continue to ply their trade. That includes 265-pound serial killer Francis Ngannou.

But Jones is now hoping for a little extra incentive.

“The more I think about it… if I’m going to be taking big risks, I might as well go for all the cheese,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “I want that crown too. Send a deal. The Goodwill in Albuquerque is about to get hooked up with some bomb-ass 36 waist jeans.”

It’s not as outrageous as it sounds.

The heavyweight title has been on ice since Daniel Cormier was frozen by Stipe Miocic at UFC 241 last August. A trilogy was expected to take place earlier this year; however, a combination of injuries and pandemics are keeping Miocic on the sidelines while a frustrated “DC” contemplates his future.

If Cormier does sit out and wait for Miocic, the promotion could create an interim title to incentivize the Jones vs. Ngannou super fight. Then again, we’ve been singing this song since 2012, so it may finally be falling on deaf ears.
