After recently suffering a third fracture to her right arm, Paige VanZant is hopefully stepping back in the Octagon.
A strawweight fight between Paige VanZant and Amanda Ribas has been rebooked for an upcoming UFC event on July 11th.
Raphael Marinho of Combate reported the news. The fight between VanZant and Ribas was originally scheduled for UFC Brasilia in March, but VanZant pulled out after fracturing her right arm for the third time.
VanZant (8-4) has only fought twice since 2016. After losing a decision to Jessica-Rose Clark in January 2018, she was sidelined for a year due to a broken arm. “12 Gauge” returned to the sport a year later and defeated Rachael Ostovich by decision, but later had to undergo surgery for another injury to her right arm.
The Brazilian Ribas (9-1) has impressed since signing for the UFC last year. Submitting Emily Whitmire in her debut, Ribas went on to win a decision as a heavy underdog against Mackenzie Dern. The 26-year-old recently defeated VanZant’s replacement at UFC Brasilia, Randa Markos, by unanimous decision.
Although the UFC event on July 11th is without a location or venue to its name, VanZant teased on social media that the card could take place on ‘Fight Island.’
