Several mixed martial arts (MMA) stars such as Chuck Liddell and Jon Jones have been doing their part to deescalate the ongoing protests all over the country after George Floyd was killed while being apprehended by police over a week ago.
More recently, Middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, delivered an emotional speech at a Black Lives Matter rally in Auckland, New Zealand speaking out against racism all over the world.
Now, Conor McGregor is also speaking out, as “Notorious” took to social media to speak out against racism and injustice, which is the center of all the unfortunate violence and rioting affecting several states across the land.
“There is no place for injustice, racism and intolerance in this world! We must really listen and learn from those in pain. Be the example of the change you want to see,” said the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) double-champion.
“Praying, hoping, and believing everyday that this is all a part of the lords plan to lead us to a better and brighter future ahead. God speed everyone.”
The officer that pinned Floyd down with his knee on his neck, Derek Chauvin, was fired and eventually arrested and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Three other officers were also relieved of their duties, and could be charged pending an investigation.
Just yesterday, the official autopsy reports confirmed that “cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint and neck compression” was the cause of Floyd’s death.
