A pivotal heavyweight fight will take place on the UFC’s third event at the Apex on June 20th.
A fight between top heavyweights Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov will headline a UFC Fight Night taking place on June 20th.
The UFC announced the matchup on social media Wednesday. The event on June 20th will be the third card that will take place at the UFC’s Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Blaydes (13-2, 1NC) is currently on a three-fight winning streak. “Razor” knocked out former champion Junior Dos Santos at UFC Raleigh in January, and also picked up wins against Shamil Abdurakhimov and Justin Willis last year. The 29-year-old’s only losses in his career have come against former title challenger Francis Ngannou.
The former Bellator and M-1 Global heavyweight champion Volkov (31-7) has only lost once since making his UFC debut in 2016. “Drago” suffered a KO loss to Derrick Lewis in October 2018 after winning most of the fight. The Russian has defeated names such as Fabricio Werdum, Stefan Struve and Roy Nelson during his six UFC appearances.
The UFC was supposed to hold this event in Saskatchewan, Canada but due to the coronavirus the promotion was forced to move it to their facility in Vegas.
