Amanda Nunes defended her featherweight title in the main event of UFC 250 against Felicia Spencer.

Amanda Nunes retained her UFC women’s featherweight title in the main event of UFC 250 by outclassing Felicia Spencer to win a unanimous decision.

What was the high point of the fight?

Spencer darted towards Nunes and tried to clinch but “The Lioness” did well to circle away and land a good counter right hand. As Spencer tried to initiate a takedown Nunes reversed the position with a judo throw to end up on top. Nunes opened up a big cut on the forehead of Spencer with some elbows at the end of the first round.

Nunes continued to dominate in the second and third round, battering Spencer on the feet with punches and wearing her down with leg kicks. The fight easily could have been stopped at the end of the fourth as Spencer continued to take lots of punishment, but she somehow stayed in to survive until the scorecards.

Where do both women go from here?

Nunes becomes the first women in UFC history to defend the bantamweight and featherweight title. The Brazilian is in a position where she can do whatever she wants. Either stay at 145-pounds and wait for the next contender or drop back down to bantamweight where there are more contenders and defend her title in that weight class.

There are certainly positives to take for Spencer, as few people expected her to win this fight. The Canadian lasted a whole lot longer than any of Nunes’ previous opponents, and although Spencer has a lot to work she proved she is tough and durable.

Watch it now, later or never?

Watch it now to see Nunes’ dominance in the fight.
