Europe’s leading BJJ promotion is set tor return for a UK tournament in July.
Polaris’ blockbuster GP was called off due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but Europe’s leading grappling promotion has announced they will be returning with a show next month. While the world GP remains postponed, the promotion has decided to return with a behind-closed-doors tournament featuring some of Europe’s best grapplers.
Participants are rumored to include UFC star Tom Breese, who is a BJJ black belt and part owner of Renegade Fight Team which is the home to leading UK fighters including Leon and Fabian Edwards. European ADCC trials champion Ross Nicholls is also expected to compete. Nicholls lost to the eventual champion, JT Torres, at ADCC 2019 and since then hasn’t competed as regularly as fans have been accustomed to.
A number of former Polaris stars are also expected to be announced in the coming days. There are also some super fights currently being discussed. Due to government restrictions, the show will be held behind closed doors and will be sanctioned by the UKBJJA, who have been working closely with Sport England.
Polaris 13 goes down on July 12 on UFC Fight Pass and the tournament will have a $10,000 prize on the line.
