Longtime Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight veteran Felice Herrig will make her long-awaited return to the Octagon when she battles 115-pound standout Virna Jandiroba at the upcoming UFC 252 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., Aug. 15, 2020 at a city and venue to be named.
That’s according to a report from ESPN.
Herrig (14-8), who turns 36 in September, has not competed since her unanimous decision loss to Michelle Waterson at UFC 229 back in late 2018. “Lil’ Bulldog” suffered a catastrophic knee injury that required surgery, leaving her on the bench for nearly two years.
As for Jandiroba (15-1), the 32 year-old Brazilian lost her Octagon debut to former strawweight champion Carla Esparza at UFC Fight Night 150 in April 2019, but rebounded with a submission win over Mallory Martin at UFC on ESPN 7 last December.
UFC 252 will be headlined by the heavyweight championship rubber match between reigning 265-pound champion Stipe Miocic and former division titleholder Daniel Cormier. Elsewhere on the card, Ashley Yoder is expected to collide with fellow strawweight Livinha Souza.
