Sean O’Malley continues to antagonize Cody Garbrandt.
Sean O’Malley continues to berate Cody Garbrandt, but it’s all in good humor.
In his latest attack on the former UFC bantamweight champion, ‘Sugar’ joked that ‘No Love’ grew a beard ahead of UFC 250 to protect his chin against Raphael Assuncao, who Garbrandt ended up KO’ing in the second round of the UFC 250 co-main event.
Prior to that, however, Garbrandt had suffered three consecutive knockout losses and was rapidly plummeting down the UFC bantamweight rankings.
“We’ll fight some day,” O’Malley said of Garbrandt in a recent interview with TMZ Sports. “We’ll 100 percent fight some day. He’s still pretty young so I think that’s gonna be a potential big, big fight — that’s a big pay-per-view fight in the next couple of years. He keeps winning, I keep winning — that’s a big f-cking fight.”
“What a beast in his own right to be able to come back from getting knocked out three times,” O’Malley added. “Grew his beard out a little bit to try to add maybe a little cushion there, and it might have worked. But I’ll slice right through that f-cking beard.”
O’Malley said in a previous interview that he would have no problem KO’ing Garbrandt but acknowledged that he is at least a couple of more wins away from challenging the former UFC bantamweight champ.
O’Malley is undefeated after twelve professional fights and is currently ranked #15 in the UFC bantamweight rankings. The 25-year-old has gone 4-0 in the UFC since making his promotional debut in 2017.
