Felice Herrig will step into the cage for the first time in almost two years at UFC 252.
It looks like Felice Herrig will be making a return to the Octagon. The veteran women’s MMA fighter has been battling injuries, including a torn ACL, for most of the past two years. But the 35-year-old has been booked for a strawweight fight against Virna Jandiroba at UFC 252 in August, according to ESPN.
Herrig (14-8, 5-3 UFC) comes in on a two-fight losing streak, dropping decisions to Michelle Waterson and Karolina Kowalkiewicz in 2018. Before that, she had rung up a four-fight winning streak. Despite the long layoff, Herring hung around the 115-pound rankings until just recently.
Jandiroba (15-1, 1-1 UFC) picked up the first loss of her MMA career in her UFC debut, dropping a decision to Carla Esparza. She rebounded in her last fight though, submitting Mallory Martin in December.
It is expected that the bout will take place on the preliminary card. UFC 252 goes down August 15th, but does not have a set venue or location as of yet. The card will be headlined by the third and final fight between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic for the UFC heavyweight title.
