An important light heavyweight bout is apparently set for late August.
A proposed August 29th UFC card doesn’t have a location or a main event yet, but it apparently does have one fight attached to it already. The bout comes in the 205-pound division, with former title challenger Anthony Smith facing off with Aleksandar Rakic.
The proposed fight was originally reported by MMA Play 365, and confirmed by MMA Junkie.
Smith (32-15, 8-5 UFC) is coming a TKO loss to Glover Teixeira in a bout where many thought that the ref or Smith’s corner should have stopped it earlier. Lionheart is 4-2 since jumping up to light heavyweight, and has picked up three performance bonuses.
Rakic (12-2, 4-1 UFC) is coming off a close loss to Volkan Oezdemir, the first of his UFC career. He had picked up four straight wins before that, the highlight of which being an amazing head kick KO of Jimi Manuwa in just 42 seconds.
Smith is currently ranked as the number six contender in the light heavyweight division, while Rakic currently sits at nine.
