Mariya Agapova gets a quick turnaround after her successful UFC debut.

UFC flyweight Mariya Agapova impressed during her promotional debut at UFC Fight Night: Eye vs. Calvillo last weekend. There she took less than two rounds to submit Hannah Cifers with a rear naked choke.

It seems like the fighter from Kazakhstan impressed the UFC’s matchmakers, too. According to MMA Fighting the 23-year-old American Top Team product has been booked to face TUF alum Shana Dobson at the currently unnamed UFC event scheduled to take place on August 22nd.

Shana ‘Danger’ Dobson is 3-4 as a pro and is currently on a three-fight losing skid, after dropping decisions to Lauren Mueller and Sabina Mazo and getting knocked out by Priscilla Cachoeira.

Agapova has a record of 9-1, with her only loss coming against Tracy Cortez on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2019. Before breaking into the UFC proper Agapova won two fights, in impressive fashion, with Invicta FC.

In her Invicta debut at the Phoenix Series 2 event, she dominated Alexa Conners on route to a RNC victory. She followed that up with a ground and pound win over Marilia Santos. Had she not switched the Invicta cage for the UFC Octagon, Agapova would likely be competing for the flyweight title there.

There are few details available regarding the UFC’s August 22nd show. It is likely that the event will take place at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas, due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.

The only other fight announced for that event is Mizuki Inoue, another Invicta graduate, versus former Jungle Fight champion Amanda Lemos.
