Tito Ortiz is going from “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” to the Huntington Beach politician.
Tito Ortiz is having second thoughts about being a police officer and instead eyes the mayor’s chair.
Ortiz (17-11-1) said in a recent interview that he envisions himself in political office. The former UFC light-heavyweight champion is still exploring life as a cop but is sees a less violent path for this stage of his life.

“I’ll be going on a ride along this week, I think sometime Thursday, but I don’t know I’m second guessing it now. Being an officer and trying to control people in an environment is hard to do. At the same time I’m putting myself at risk. Maybe I want to step a little bit higher,” Ortiz said. “There is an open seat here in Huntington Beach for mayor. Maybe that is the next step.”
“Getting into the politics side and instead of being a person to hold a gun on my side, to be able to use my voice [and] people listen,” he explained. “I gotta do my homework. I gotta do my research and I gotta make sure I’m doing the right things for the right causes. Not just for here in the town of Huntington Beach, but maybe in the future the state of California.”
Ortiz is currently riding a three-fight winning streak with first-round finishes of Alberto El Patron, Chuck Liddell, and Chael Sonnen. In fact, he has won five of his last six.
