Mike Perry and Mickey Gall faced each other in a Welterweight bout tonight (Sat., June 27, 2020) at UFC on ESPN 12 from inside UFC APEX from Las Vegas, Nevada. In an odd bout, Perry beat up Gall on the mat and along the fence.

Perry opened the bout with a big right hand swing. Gall evaded early and landed a low kick. Perry connected on a Southpaw left and began to connect more from that stance. Big front kick from Perry, followed by another body shot. Gall returned the favor with a heavy body kick and counter punch. Good cross scored for Gall. Another! Big left hook connected from Gall as well, but Perry swarmed him with some big punches of his own. The two began trading heavy shots, and Perry stuffed a takedown. Perry scored with an overhand. Perry caught a kick and landed a big slam. MIKE PERRY TOOK MICKEY GALL’S BACK! Perry spun into top position when Gall tried to scramble. Perry landed some solid ground strikes before the bell.

Perry opened the second round in Southpaw, kicking actively. Gall attempted a jump knee that just missed. Gall snapped a left hook while absorbing a body shot. “Platinum” stuffed a solid takedown attempt from Gall. Perry returned the favor with a successful double leg of his own. Perry avoided a guillotine to take half guard. Perry started dropping punches and elbows, avoiding the arm bar attempt from Gall. Gall used a kimura attempt to stand up, but he was unsuccessful in dragging Perry down with a head lock. Gall landed a good elbow and dropped into a double leg attempt. Perry landed a couple good punches on the feet when the two broke apart. Good 2-1 from Gall! Body kick scored for Perry. Two big right hands from Perry dropped his foe to the mat! Perry advanced into mount and managed to land a huge elbow just as the round ended.

Perry stuck his foe with an early body jab to start the final frame, and the two traded low kicks. Hard uppercut connected on the jaw from Perry, followed by a couple hard body shots. The traded stiff jabs, then Perry landed another right. Superman punch scored for Perry. Perry snuck a good left hook and followed up with a hard combination. Gall attempted to roll into a leg lock, but Perry stuffed it and took top position. Perry moved into the crucifix briefly and landed some elbows. Perry stepped into mount and dropped a huge elbow. Another big elbow! Perry walked right into a triangle but still escaped, finishing the bout by taking his opponent’s back again.

Truthfully, Perry’s lack of corner/coaching/training was apparent here. He largely cruised through Gall, but Perry’s timing was clearly off, as Gall was able to land a lot of strikes from his back foot. It’s a win, but this is far from Perry’s best performance.

Result: Mike Perry defeats Mickey Gall via unanimous decision (29=28, 29-28, 29-28)
