The organization is planning to hold its first show since the easing of restrictions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
Russia’s oldest MMA promotion will hold its first event since the easing of COVID-19 restrictions within the country.
M-1 Global announced plans to hold its latest MMA show on July 18 in St. Petersburg. The event will be held in partnership with World Kings Glory (WKG MMA) and will feature a main event between undefeated fighters Magomed Magomedov and MIkhail Doroshenko.
Magomedov hold a 3-0 record in professional MMA, as well as a history as Master of Sport in combat sambo. Doroshenko is a Master of Sport in MMA and hold a 5-0 undefeated record heading into the main event showdown. He also happens to be a student of former Bellator champion Alexander Shlemenko.
While the remainder of the fight card has not been revealed yet, M-1 Global announced that there will be a total of 11 fights with competitors representing six countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The July 18 show will be the first time that M-1 Global has hosted events since April 2020. While Russia was in lockdown, the promotion headed to Belarus — a nation that lacked any restrictive measures for COVID-19 — and held a show on April 15 dubbed ‘Heroes of the Black Square.’ During the event, M-1 mandated that its staff wear black masks throughout the duration of the event, including its medical professionals, announcers, cornermen, and even the ring card girls.
It remains unclear whether fans will be in attendance at the upcoming M-1 Global show.
