One Championship’s two division champion Aung La N Sang has revealed that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a post to his Instagram the fighter shared the news, stating that he and his family will be quarantining for the next 14 days.

“Dear family and friends, I got tested for covid-19 on Monday and the result came back today and I am positive. So my family and I will be quarantining ourselves for the next 14 days. I had a slight fever, congestion, body ache and fatigue on the first two days. Besides that I am blessed that my whole family is doing well. We are really in this together and we will get over this.”

The double champion most recently defended his light heavyweight title against Heavyweight champion Brandon Vera in October of 2019.

Since then it has been rumored he would defend his middleweight title in a trilogy bout against Vitaly Bigdash.

One Championship held an event with no crowd in Singapore back in February and planned to continue this with all the events they had scheduled. The organization decided against continuing this after COVID-19 began spreading at a rapid rate around the globe and has since held off holding any events.

Recently the promotion announced their return on July 31st in Bangkok with events to be held in the months following.

The announced event on July 31st will be held without any crowd in attendance and will feature no MMA bouts on the line-up. This card is instead to be headlined by two championship Muay Thai matchups, a trilogy bout, Rodtang vs Petchdam III, and Petchmorakot vs Yodsanklai.

There has been no announcement made by the organization on when Aung La N Sang will make his return, however, due to his recent positive test it is not likely to be anytime soon.
