“Fight Island” — formerly known as Yas Island — in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, hosts yet another evening of mixed martial arts (MMA) action this Saturday evening (July 15, 2020), including a Flyweight title bout in the featured attraction. After missing weight the first time around, Deiveson Figueiredo will look to make it 2-0 against Joseph Benavidez and earn some hardware in the process.
UFC Fight Island 2 viewers will also get to see Jack Hermansson face Kelvin Gastelum as both men attempt to regain their footing as Middleweight contenders and Marc Diakiese attempt to continue his resurgence against Tiger Muay Thai striking menace Rafael Fiziev.

What Went Wrong at UFC On ESPN 13?
As it turns out, rough Octagon debuts occasionally lead to major improvement. Both Lerone Murphy and Taila Santos looked far superior in their sophomore efforts, undoing the work done by Jack Shore’s dominant finish and Tim Elliott’s narrow victory. Lesson learned … at least until I forget.
UFC Fight Island 2 Odds For The Under Card:
Roman Dolidze (-170) vs. Khadis Ibragimov (+150)
Grant Dawson (-255) vs. Nad Narimani (+215)
Joe Duffy (-345) vs. Joel Alvarez (+285)
Montel Jackson (-200) vs. Brett Johns (+170)
Amir Albazi (-165) vs. Malcolm Gordon (+135)
Arman Tsarukyan (-200) vs. Davi Ramos (+170)
Serghei Spivac (-160) vs. Carlos Felipe (+140)
Thoughts: Arman Tsarukyan is the star of a fairly fraught undercard.
Davi Ramos’ last fight saw him thoroughly neutralized by Islam Makhachev, and though Tsarukyan’s Octagon debut against Makhachev showed that he can’t quite match the Dagestani in that department, he’s a close second and a more versatile striker besides. Tsarukyan is more than capable of keeping it on the feet, where he’s noticeably better than the Brazilian grappling ace. Bank on Armenia to win big.
Parlaying Tsarukyan with Joe Duffy — the deservedly biggest favorite on the card — nets positive odds. Seeing as “Irish” has a massive edge in the stand up and enough wrestling chops to take Alvarez’s ground game out of the equation, that looks like a recipe for success from where I’m sitting.
On the riskier side, I like Amir Albazi over Malcolm Gordon. Though Gordon’s got some nasty pop in that right hand, he also tends to shell up under pressure and looks to be the slightly weaker wrestler of the two. Put him in with Montel Jackson, whose significant size advantage should pay dividends against Brett Johns.
UFC On Fight Island 2 Main Card:
Deiveson Figueiredo (-210) vs. Joseph Benavidez (+175)
Jack Hermansson (-110) vs. Kelvin Gastelum (-110)
Marc Diakiese (-155) vs. Rafael Fiziev (+135)
Ariane Lipski (-120) vs. Luana Carolina (EVEN)
Alexandre Pantoja (-200) vs. Askar Askarov (+170)
Thoughts: Honestly not seeing a whole lot here. Part of me wants to put some money down on Fiziev because he’s low-key one of the scarier strikers in the Lightweight division, but Marc Diakiese’s massive improvements and dangerous wrestling skills make that too risky for my taste. It’s probably just best to just leave this lot alone.
UFC Fight Island 2 Best Bets:
- Parlay — Arman Tsarukyan and Joe Duffy: Bet $88 to make $80
- Parlay — Amir Albazi and Montel Jackson: Bet $40 to make $56.40
