Gilbert Burns is now recovered from the coronavirus, and gunning for a shot at Kamaru Usman.
Now recovered from the coronavirus, Gilbert Burns will be in the corner for his teammate Vicente Luque’s fight on August 1st.
It’s been a tough month for Burns, who had to pull out of a title fight against Kamaru Usman at UFC 249 due to testing positive for COVID-19. Burns was replaced by Jorge Masvidal who lost a unanimous decision to Usman.
Now almost two weeks since his bad news, Burns revealed from a test taken July 16th that he is free of the virus.

Burns (19-3) is on a six-fight winning streak in the UFC. “Durinho” has already picked up two wins in 2020, finishing Demian Maia by TKO in March and dominating former champion Tyron Woodley to win a decision in May.
UFC president Dana White recently said that a rematch between Usman and Masvidal is not on the cards, and Burns will receive the next shot at the welterweight title.
Burns’ teammate Luque will fight Randy Brown in a welterweight fight at UFC Fight Night: Holm vs. Aldana on August 1st.
