UFC Fight Island 2 injuries and medical suspensions were submitted to mixedmartialarts.com earlier this week for those athletes competing at the “Figueiredo vs. Benavidez 2”-led MMA event this past weekend (Sat., July 18, 2020) from Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

All fighters were slapped with a mandatory seven-day suspension.

Not surprisingly, a fair share of combatants were handed additional timeouts, including flyweight headliner Joseph Benavidez. In addition, Luana Carolina could find herself out of action from injuries sustained against Ariane Lipski.

That’s not all.

UFC Fight Island 2 injuries and medical suspensions (via MMA Junkie) below:

Joseph Benavidez: Suspended 45 days for forehead laceration, no contact for 30 days
Rafel Fiziev: Suspended 30 days for “hard bout” with no contact for 21 days
Marc Diakiese: Suspended 30 days for “hard bout” with no contact for 21 days
Luana Carolina: Suspended 180 days or 30 days minimum with left knee MRI clearance by a doctor. Also, no contact for 21 days
Khadis Ibragimov: Suspended 45 days for TKO loss with no contact for 30 days
Nad Narimani: Suspended for 30 days for left eyebrow laceration and with no contact for 21 days
Brett Johns: Suspended 45 days for “hard bout” and with no contact for 30 days
Arman Tsarukyan: Suspended 30 days for “hard bout” and no contact for 21 days
Davi Ramos: Suspended for 45 days for multiple lacerations and no contact for 30 days

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
