Fighters have arrived in Uncasville for Bellator 242 and it’s their own version of “Fight Island” as health and safety protocols are being observed.

A whirlwind week of activity including medical testing and a virtual media day Q&A have led up to pre-fight check-ins before Bellator 242 on Friday, July 24, 2020. With the coronavirus pandemic still raging the health and safety of all personnel is of paramount concern. In a video from Victoria Gracie, Bellator Fighter Projects Manager, we get a full breakdown of all the protocols that are in place for this card.

Bellator MMA has erected its own “Fight Island” in and around Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville and they’re calling it “The Fight Sphere.” All fighters go through another medical screening when they check in for the event, teams are being isolated from one another including private locker rooms, all workout equipment is being sanitized after every session, and fighters have their own personal saunas for any last minute weight cuts.

Since this is a unique atmosphere unlike any other for a Bellator MMA card, cameras followed along with main event fighters Sergio Pettis (19-5) and Ricky Bandejas (13-3) as they prepared for a pivotal Bantamweight fight in a division currently lacking a champion.

Stay tuned for complete Bellator 242 coverage as the fighters return for “Bandejas vs. Pettis” on July 24th, simulcasting on Paramount Network and DAZN at 10 PM ET.
