Edmen Shahbazyan will look for his fifth straight win under the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) banner when he faces Derek Brunson in the main event of UFC Vegas 5 this Saturday night (Aug. 1, 2020) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
And he’s going to feel right at home since the UFC APEX facility in “Sin City” is where “The Golden Boy” got his start with the promotion. In July of 2018, Shahbazyan got a shot on Dana White’s “Contender Series,” as he was paired up against Antonio Jones.
The action got started early with both men trading punches in the center of the cage. Once in the clinch, Edmen connected on some nice knees to the body. Once separated, Shabazyan tagged Jones with several uppercuts, sending him crashing to the canvas. A few follow-up punches later and “The Golden Boy” was officially on his way to the big show.
And it took all of 40 seconds.
Now, Shabazyan will look to earn the biggest win of his career against longtime UFC veteran, Derek Brunson, in his first ever headlining act. And with a win, it assures Shahbazyan that it won’t be his last.
