Georges St-Pierre’s wishes to fight the “perfect fighter” Khabib Nurmagomedov may not be completely dashed. During a recent interview with ESPN, Dana White was asked if he’d be willing to give “The Eagle” what he wanted for his final fight, which could come in 2021.
White was quick to say he’d let Khabib do whatever he wants since he thinks so highly of him and has been good for UFC and the sport of MMA overall. And that even includes facing off against former UFC Welterweight and Middleweight champion, Georges St-Pierre.
Obviously, a juicy nugget like that took social media by storm, and the combat community was buzzing at the possibility of seeing two of the best pound-for-pound fighters ever throw down in what would likely be both men’s final bout.
As far as Khabib is concerned, he already has “Rush” in his queue, as he took the chance to slide into one of Joe Rogan’s Instagram posts to tease his fight schedule after Conor McGregor chimed in on Rogan’s over-excitement for the bout.
It seems “Notorious” was implying that he had a hangover prior to his fight against Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, which he lost via submission. Whatever the case may be, “The Eagle” couldn’t let the opportunity to let McGregor know he wouldn’t be getting a rematch pass him by.
As far as St-Pierre, he seems a bit excited at the possibility of finally getting his dream fight, though it could all go down the drain if Gaethje pulls off one of the biggest upsets at UFC 254 on October 24.
