Derrick Lewis will look to earn his third straight win when he faces Aleksei Oleinik in the main event of UFC Vegas 6 this Sat. night (Aug. 8, 2020) inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Before then, lets take a trip down memory lane to see one of “Black Beast’s” most impressive performances inside the cage. In early 2018, Lewis found himself staring down Marcin Tybura at UFC Fight Night 126 in Austin, Texas, Lewis’ home state.
Early on Marcin was forced to absorb several big bombs from Lewis, who piled on the hurt with his nasty ground-and-pound. Not only did Tybura survive, but he finished the round in top position delivering some of his own punishment.
In round two, Lewis was looking for the home run shot but Tybura eventually dragged Lewis down to the mat again. It was a dominant round for Tybura by spending the majority of the five minutes piling on the punishment.
Going into the final round tied at one round a piece, Lewis knew it was kill or be killed and leaving it to the judges would be a big roll of the dice. During one of Tybura’s takedown attempts, Lewis managed to use his foe’s momentum against him, spinning him around and dragging him down. Upon getting up, Derrick unleashed some lethal strikes, clipping Tybura right on the chin. Once on the ground, Lewis unleashed several unanswered shots which forced the referee to put an end to the action.
Now, “Black Beast” will look to insert himself into the championship picture with a win over one of the most seasoned veterans of the fight game who is also on a two-fight win streak.
