The Canadian heavyweight will look to knock off the former UFC champion this fall.
Tanner Boser may not be getting that Maurice Greene fight that he’s kept asking for, but the Canadian heavyweight is getting another step up in competition.
TSN’s Aaron Broensteter reported that Boser and former champion Andrei Arlovski are set to meet on October 3rd at a location TBD.
Boser (19-6-1) is 3-1 inside the Octagon, and he has particularly impressed in his last two outings. After suffering a decision loss to Ciryl Gane, Boser responded with a sensational knockout win over Philipe Lins in June, then came in on short notice last month at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi to stop Raphael Pessoa in round two.
Arlovski (29-19, 2 NC) has his own win over Lins in his most recent appearance, although his was by decision. “The Pitbull” has been losing more than winning in recent years but yet he remains one of the higher paid non-champions on the UFC roster, and has settled in as a gatekeeper of sorts in the division he once ruled. Apart from the Jaizinho Rozenstruik walloping, nine of Arlovski’s last ten bouts have gone the distance.
No main event has been announced for this show, although it’s been reported that the postponed bout between Holly Holm and Irene Aldana could be rescheduled for this event.
