Undefeated lightweight sensation Jordan Leavitt improved to 7-0 in what could prove to be the most important fight of his young mixed martial arts (MMA) career, notching a first-round submission win over Luke Flores on Dana White’s “Contender Series” last Tues. night (Aug. 4, 2020) inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The highlight-reel victory scored Leavitt a coveted contract with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and the timing could not have been better. “The Monkey King” accidentally announced that his wife was pregnant during his post-fight interview.
“It’s a lot of emotion, it’s hard to really explain,” an emotional Leavitt said after the fight. “I can support me and my wife, baby on the way … I guess that’s our pregnancy announcement! It means everything to have this dream come true.”
