Bellator 45 Shuffles Card After Injury To Thiago Santos

A heavyweight bout between Derrick Lewis (4-1) and Thiago “Big Monster” Santos (8-1) has been pulled from this Saturday, May 21, Bellator 45 event because on an injury to Santos.
Bellator will add a 140 lb catchweight bout between Joseph Abercrombie (2-1) and Ben Parpart (1-1) to bring the event back up to eight bouts.

Bellator will add a 140 lb catchweight bout between Joseph Abercrombie (2-1) and Ben Parpart (1-1) to bring the event back up to eight bouts.

Sherdog.com confirmed the news after an initial report from MMAjunkie.com, noting that “Big Monster” Santos suffered an undisclosed injury and the Abercrombie vs. Parpart bout would not take part on the live MTV2 broadcast.

Bellator 45 is set to take place this Saturday, May 21, at the L’Auberge Du Lac Casiono & Resort in Lake Charles, LA. The main card will air live at 9PM EST (6PM PST) on MTV2 in the U.S., and on theScore in Canada.

The event will crown the first ever Bellator light heavyweight champion, as Richard Hale and Christian M’Pumbu square off in the Season Four Tournament Finale. Also featured will be the Season Four Featherweight Tournament Final between Patricio “Pitbull” Freire and Daniel Straus. The winner will go on to face champ Joe Warren at a future date.
