WWE superstar Sonya Deville had a stalker that attempted to kidnap her. Instead, he got arrested and charged with a litany of crimes.

The life of a WWE wrestler isn’t easy. Being in the public eye can bring out all sorts of potential danger, and in the case of Sonya Deville, it led to an attempted kidnapping.

Deville (real name Daria Berenato), a former amateur MMA fighter that went 2-1 in a brief career, was apparently at home with a guest when Philip Thomas II tried to break in with the intent of taking Deville hostage. Here’s what the Tampa Bay Times had to say about the incident:

“Thomas cut a hole in the patio screen and remained on the patio three to four hours while watching and listening through the windows. At 2:43 a.m., after the homeowner had gone to bed, Thomas entered the home through a sliding glass door, activating the alarm.

The homeowner looked out a window, spotted Thomas on the property and fled with a guest in a car. The homeowner called 911.

Thomas was still in the house when deputies arrived. He was carrying a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, mace and other items and told deputies he was planning to take the homeowner hostage.”

Thomas, who admitted that he had been planning the kidnapping for eight months, was charged with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief. He is being held without bail.
