The future of UFC bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley remains unclear following his technical knockout loss to Marlon Vera at UFC 252 last weekend in Las Vegas, a bout that saw “Sugar” suffer an apparent leg injury that may (or may not) have contributed to his in-cage demise.

The good news for O’Malley is nothing was broken.

“X-ray on his ankle/lower leg came back okay,” a source told Ariel Helwani. “No fractures but MRI is needed (once swelling goes down) to look for ligament and tendon tears. They will scan knee too. Can’t have a MRI until swelling subsides.”

O’Malley suffered a similar injury back in 2018.

The loss to Vera will undoubtedly slow the momentum of the oft-hyped “Sugar Show” regardless of whether or not O’Malley is sidelined with a debilitating injury. Either way, former UFC bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo remains unimpressed.

Just in case anyone still cares what “Triple C” thinks.
