The former interim welterweight champion has lost his last five bouts.
“The Natural Born Killer” is back.
Carlos Condit, who hasn’t won a fight in five years, is slated to make his return to the Octagon this fall against The Ultimate Fighter season 11 winner Court McGee. MMA Junkie confirmed the news after Condit announced the matchup on “The Buck and Dex” podcast.
Condit (30-13) is the former WEC welterweight champion and the UFC’s former interim champion courtesy of his win over Nick Diaz back in 2012. He’s twice fought for the undisputed title, losing to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 154 and vs. Robbie Lawler in an all-time classic at UFC 195. Condit is on a five-fight losing streak, most recently suffering a kimura loss to Michael Chiesa at UFC 232. His last win was a doctor’s stoppage TKO vs. Thiago Alves, which netted him his title shot, and a detached retina is what prevented him from returning against Mickey Gall last year.
McGee (19-9) is on his own losing skid and just 1-4 in his last five. He’s coming off a unanimous decision defeat to Sean Brady at UFC Boston last October. His most recent win saw him take a decision over Alex Garcia in 2018. McGee won TUF 11 as a middleweight but made the move down to welterweight in 2013, beating Josh Neer in his debut and then following that up with a split decision over future middleweight king Robert Whittaker.
The UFC’s October 3rd card is headlined by a women’s bantamweight bout between former champion Holly Holm and Irene Aldana. No venue has been announced yet, and it’s unknown whether this event will stream on ESPN+ or air on ESPN.
