Rafael dos Anjos is returning to the division that he won a championship in.

Following an up-and-down run at welterweight for three years, Rafael dos Anjos is dropping back to the division where he was once a champion. His return to lightweight will go down at UFC 254, where he’ll meet the streaking Islam Makhachev.

BJPenn.com was the first to report the October 24th fight.

Dos Anjos (29-13, 18-11 UFC) went 4-4 during his 170-pound run overall, but has lfour of his last five overall. His last victory came via submission over Kevin Lee in May of 2019. This will be Dos Anjos’ first bout at 155 pounds since he lost to Tony Ferguson in late 2016.

Makhachev (18-1, 7-1 UFC) is on a six-fight winning streak overall, and he picked up his last win in September of last year over Davi Ramos. His only career and UFC loss to date came at the hands of Andriano Martins in 2015.

UFC 254 goes down October 24th in a location to be determined. The card will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje.
