Aleksandar Rakic will look to get back in the win column after having his seven-year unbeaten streak snapped by Volkan Oezdemir in his last outing when he faces Anthony Smith in the main event of UFC Vegas 8 this Sat. night (Aug. 22,. 2020) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Before then, let’s take a stroll down memory lane to the night Rakic earned a devastating knockout win over Jimi Manuwa. In June of 2019, Aleksandar found himself staring down “Poster Boy,” who was in desperate need of a win after suffering three straight defeats. Rakic, meanwhile, was riding an 11-fight win streak including winning his firs three fights inside the Octagon.
After a few seconds of going through a feeling out process, the two heavy-hitters exchanged powerful low kicks. A few moments later, Rakic stepped in with a high kick attempt that caugh Manuwa off guard, clipping him right on the chin and sending him crashing to the canvas, though he was already out cold long before his head bounced off the canvas.
A knockout performance Mirko Cro Cop would be proud of.
After coming up short against Oezdemir in his following fight, Rakic will now look to earn one of the biggest wins of his careers against “Lionheart,” the former UFC Light Heavyweight title contender who is also in search of a big win.
