Kevin Croom was cut by the UFC just 24 hours after signing with the premiere fight promotion to fight Alex Caceres at UFC Fight Night 175 this Saturday.
‘The Hard Hitting Hillbilly’ is a seasoned veteran with 33 fights to his resume (21-12 MMA) and was super excited to be making his long-awaited UFC debut this weekend, but the 33-year-old is still keeping his spirits up despite the bad news.
“Due to things completely out of my control, I am not fighting,” Croom wrote on Facebook. “I got signed and cut in 24 hours! But that doesn’t really change anything. I’m one step closer to my goal. I got signed! I’ve been waiting forever for that. I made it and I will make it again! I’ll be back!”

Caceres will face UFC newcomer Austin Springer instead, who will serve as Croom’s replacement.
UFC Fight Night 175, which features a headlining light heavyweight bout between Anthony Smith and Aleksandar Rakic, takes place Saturday, Aug. 29 at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas.
