Jamie Varner lost his belt, he lost subsequent fights, and he ultimately lost his job with the WEC and UFC.

Then he lost his teammates, his trainers, his camp and – for a time – any desire to compete in mixed martial arts.

“At first, I was going to retire,” he recently told MMAjunkie.com Radio. “The first three or four months after my last (WEC) fight in December, I wanted nothing to do with the sport. I wouldn’t watch it on TV. I didn’t want to hear about it. When I got cut from Zuffa, I felt like my girlfriend left me.”
