Khabib isn’t the only member of the Nurmagomedov clan ready to mount his comeback in October. Indeed, Said, cousin of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight champion of the world, is set to return on Oct. 17, 2020 against Mark Striegel at an upcoming UFC “Fight Night” event on Oct. 17, 2020 according to John Hyon Ko.
Said saw his seven-fight win streak go up in smoke last December, suffering his first loss in nearly six years to Raoni Barcelos. Prior to that, Nurmagomedov had won 13 of 14 overall, including his first two fights inside the Octagon.
Striegl, meanwhile, was booked to make his short-notice UFC debut against Timur Valiev at UFC on ESPN 15 on Aug. 22, but was forced out after he tested positive for COVID-19. Winner of four straight, Striegl spent some time competing under the ONE banner as well as several other Asian-based promotions.
The ESPN+ -streamed event will be headlined by a pivotal Featherweight bout as Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung finally get their chance to put hands on one another, with the victor likely getting the opportunity to face division king, Alexander Volkanovski. Also on the card, Katlyn Chookagian will face Jessica Andrade in Flyweight action.
