Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Last week, it became known that UFC is looking to book a BMF title rematch between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz, and the crowd went … mild. The two are stars, and it’s likely to be an entertaining fight, but given how one-sided the first match was, there’s not exactly a major demand for a second bout.
Top-ranked Welterweight contender was more than bored by the idea, he was outright mad. “Rocky” has been chasing a showdown with Masvidal ever since he and “Gamebred” squared off back stage, and he immediately took to calling out “pussy” Masvidal for taking the Diaz rematch, which Edwards views as the easier fight.
Now, Nathan Diaz is not a man to typically stand up for his former/upcoming opponents, but nor is Diaz going to take a slight without answering back. The Stockton-native went on Twitter to fire back at Edwards, mocking the Englishman’s backstage loss to Masvidal … and throwing some extra shade at Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“You got fucked up in the back for acting like you were tight,” Diaz tweeted. “This fight shit is the same everywhere, in or out of the cage… don’t get punked ever. That goes for kabob also, you guys are in last place now lol.”
At the time of writing, Edwards has yet to respond to Diaz’s trash talk, likely because it’s the middle of the night in London. When he was tweeting, however, Edwards did express interest in the a bout with Nick Diaz, the elder of the two brothers who is supposedly making a return.
I agree with @dc_mma that’s the fight to make i would love to scrap with nick, @arielhelwani listen to the man https://t.co/iMNxzPacfC

All in all, it seems like 2021 could be the year of the Diaz … or the year both brothers get beaten up in bad blood matches. Time will tell!
Insomnia
Alistair Overeem is an absolute legend.
Holy sh*t, “GSP” has hair!
Tony vs. Khabib seems destined to be this generation’s Randy Couture vs. Fedor Emelianenko … except a better match up that makes me even more sad.
In 47 days, Khabib vs Gaethje will take place just moments after Tony Ferguson leaves the octagon after fighting Porier
This will be the 2nd time that Khabib & Ferguson will be on the same main card and not fight eachother
1891 days later and we still long for Tony vs Khabib pic.twitter.com/PVI0e5GioG

Charles Oliveira deserved a higher-ranked opponent than Beneil Dariush given his win streak, but this is still a bummer, because that fight would’ve been awesome.
Gerald Meerschaert doesn’t buy the hype!

This had to hurt.
I’ll remember Ricardo Lamas as a smart, well-rounded fighter with absolutely hellacious ground striking. What’s your favorite “Bully” moment?
Slips, rips, and KO clips
Sequences such as this will always remind me of Stefan Struve.
This was such a beautiful KO by Askhab Zulaev. Intercept overhand right to the jaw. #ACA110 pic.twitter.com/nfzxpsK0ao

Jumping on the neck may not be the popular style in jiu-jitsu right now, but it’s always an option!
It’s saturday, enjoy Barata D’arcing Miyao in place of defending his legs. pic.twitter.com/nbI4JTD48P
