Stephen Thompson is predicting his former opponent Tyron Woodley will finish Colby Covington at UFC Vegas 11.

Stephen Thompson says he’s “excited” to see his former opponent Tyron Woodley finish Colby Covington in their clash at UFC Vegas 11.

Woodley will try and bounce back after consecutive losses against Covington. The two welterweights have gone back and forth for years, but will finally meet this Saturday night in the main event of UFC Vegas 11.

Covington said earlier this week that he is by no means underestimating the former champion Woodley after many have wrote him off following his consecutive decision losses to Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns.

“I am really excited,” Thompson told MMA Fighting. “I’m ready to see my man Tyron Woodley go out there and finish this guy. You got the guys that you love to like and then the guys you love to hate in the sport. Colby Covington has made himself into the unlikable guy with the whole beef with the gyms, him and (Jorge) Masvidal were friends, now they don’t like each other.

“Now you have Masvidal, the ‘BMF,’ going up to help Tyron finish Colby Covington. I think it’s great.”

Thompson and Woodley have met twice in the Octagon, with “The Chosen One” getting the nod by decision after the two fought to a majority draw in November 2016. Thompson said he’s motivated by Woodley still being in the top of the 170-pound division at 38 years old.

“I’m rooting for my man Tyron Woodley. He’s 38 years old. He’s a year older than me and that motivates me. I’m still improving every day, and so is Tyron. But it’s going to be a fun fight. There’s going to be a lot of smack in that octagon, outside of the octagon, wherever. But I’m excited for it.”

Thompson hasn’t fought since beating Vicente Luque at UFC 244 last year.
