Dana White is extremely impressed by Khamzat Chimaev following his 17-second KO win over Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Vegas 11.

UFC president Dana White has voiced his praise for Khamzat Chimaev, stating he’s never seen anything like the breakout star during his time running the promotion.

Chimaev (9-0) picked up his third UFC win in the space of just 66 days this past weekend at UFC Vegas 11 against Gerald Meerschaert, winning by KO in just 17-seconds. “Borz” has absorbed just two strikes in his three UFC wins, previously beating Rhys McKee by TKO and John Phillips by submission.

Talking to Megan Olivi after Chimaev’s fight against Meerschaert, White said he’s “never seen anything like it”.

“One punch. 17 seconds. This kid is special. He’s different than any fighter I’ve ever seen. I’ve been in the business for a very long time, I’ve seen a lot of greats come and go. This kid is absolutely special and I’ve never seen anything like it,” White said.

Chimaev has earned a $50,000 bonus in all three of his fights, dominating every opponent he has faced so far in the Octagon. The Russian’s performance last night drew attention from the likes of former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Joe Rogan, with the longtime UFC commentator describing him as the “real deal”.

Before his fight with Meerschaert, White said that Chimaev will fight Demian Maia should he win. That fight is in the works for a UFC event in November, and Chimaev has already opened up as a massive favorite over Maia.
